Nicky Abbondanza is a professor in the Theater Department at Treemeadow University and spends his time between mounting a promising play about a serial killer and pining for hunky fellow professor Noah. When another much-hated professor is murdered and Noah seems to be a prime suspect, Nicky decides to enter the fray and become Sherlock Holmes (with Noah as his hottie Watson) to get to the bottom of things. If you are looking for dead serious, then look elsewhere. Cosentino writes his characters and his situations broadly, and quite amusingly. He gives us lots of characters, lots of motives and a rather alarming number of bodies. The one-liners exchanged among the various staff and students of the university are worth admiration in their own right. Nicky and Noah make a nice couple and there are enough entertaining supporting characters to make one want to revisit. My personal favorite is the professor suffering from a split personality disorder who changes from paranoid/surly to painfully polite and proper depending on what pills she pops from out of her purse. The story and people may not be too politically correct, but it is funny. While I figured out the culprit at about the midway point, it did not interfere with my watching the whole thing unfold. I would definitely be on board for another of Cosentino's efforts - in fact, I have already ordered the next book in the series.
