The stems branch at the top and the branchlets end in two- to three-inch flowers with pale lemon-yellow petals and yellow centers. It’s hardy to USDA Zone 4 and tolerates hot climates as far south as Zone 9.If the word “sunflower” only calls to mind the annual species (Helianthus annuus) grown for its seeds (a single, giant flower head nodding atop a coarse stalk laddered with huge leaves), ‘Lemon Queen’ will be a surprise--showy enough to be a star perennial in an ornamental garden.Showy is the word. With many stems and branches, one plant can cover itself with flowers. Better yet, the bloom season runs for as long as two months, from summer into early autumn, as new stems and branches appear.Place ‘Lemon Queen’ at the back of beds and borders where its height and texture will show off the shorter plants in front of it. You can start with plants or seeds. When your plants mature, you can collect the seeds, save them in a cool, dry place over the winter, and plant them the following Spring.A prolific sunflower, with unique pointed petals in lemon-yellow with chocolate brown centers, to 4-5 across. Plants are multibranched, up to 6 feet tall. Plant with taller or shorter sunflowers with darker blooms for dramatic contrast. Sunflower seExported By ExportYourStore
