to Amazon's CSR: If a person buys a bed; that is because he lacks one!short version: Quality problems caused alterations; Packaging is inadequatelong version:The first Marzenia bed I ordered arrived with holes in one of 2 boxes deep enough the backing on the headboard was ripped; Requesting the replacement proved relatively painless though I had to call back again getting a separate label for one of the boxes ( CSR insisted both have to be replaced, but issued a single tag). The replacement came in, and the OTHER box was damaged - ripped in half. At first I called in and requested a return, and refund, but then inspected the content in the torn box, and decided to try and assemble the bed, as all items seemed to be in the box.I planned on about an hour of work. Boy was I wrong. The bed outside rails and head- and foot-board came together easy enough, the design uses metal thread inserts embedded in them to provide precise and strong anchors, in substantial substrate . After assembling the sides, I checked, making sure I am reasonably square. I was.The problem began with the placement of central rail. It drops in into two brackets mounted in the center on the headboard and the footboard. The brackets are installed in the factory, using woodscrews, and without substantial backing. As I was installing center support crossmembers, I discovered that one is "too big". I compared them, and they were in fact the same length. I checked the placement of the central rail, it was off by good quarter of inch off, even after I used all the play available between the central rail support tab and its bracket. Looking at the way the brackets were installed I did not dare to relocate them, for obvious lack of adequate backing for the screws. I therefore had to shorten one of the center support crossmembers, relocating the bracket. But that was not the end of it. I ended up having to similarly shorten half of the slats (13 of 26), as the plastic pegs in the assembled slat pair would not align properly on the central beam holes. (being out of practice I cut myself in the process as well ;) )In the end of the day, literally, as I started around 5 PM and was done by 9, I had something to sleep on.Takeaway for the manufacturer: This is a mass-production item, I am sure my particular bed is not a single case. Your QA is asleep, it should had been caught in the factory, assembling a sample bed. Position the central support brackets more precisely, and provide the same type of anchoring as for the sideboards, allowing for the bracket's position adjustment.Takeaway for Amazon: check the packaging before shipping to your customers. The torn package had some dust, etc, inside, indicating that the damage did not occur during shipping, but much earlier.I would not recommend this product to others.Kudos to Amazon for stepping inThe item was delivered a day early, always a pleasant surprise. The bed was very simple to assemble, but the instructions were 1 sheet with pictures. The bed in picture was a dark grey and that was the color we had wanted however the bed we received was a very light grey...this is why i can't give a 5 star rating.......the bed is ok. It is sturdy for sure and easy to assemble and looks good quality. The metal legs are a strong but thin hollow metal with a sharp edge. That sharp edge runs along the edge of the bed so that if you stub your toe it's going to be real ugly. I had to purchase a clear U shaped edge protector made for car doors and install it at both ends of each of the legs so that it's safe. This bed took some time to put together, but it looks very elegant and cozy once it's done. It's definitely much easier with 2 or more people when you're trying to line up the large pieces. Its also good to note that it ships in 2 separate pieces (the headboard and the frame) so it may not arrive all at once. One of the pieces in my order was lost, but a new one was shipped promptly. The bed itself is very sturdy, and perfect if you're getting a memory foam mattress because there's no need for a box spring, you just pop the mattress in. There's just the right amount of space if you prefer to tuck your sheets and duvet, and its not bulky if you prefer to let them fall to the side.Beautiful and sturdy but there was a flaw in the fabric right in a very easy to see part of the headboard. Too big to return, and deal with reassembly, so I trimmed the frayed parts and am still trying to get the discoloration out with peroxide. It is a little lighter now at least. See photos. After a few months some of the wooden beams cracked just after normal use. 2 years later, half the bed is unable as all of the supporting plastic and wooden pieces have broken. Avoid this bed if you want something that will last.It is easy to assemble with the exception of the slats that have to locked together one at a time. That is not very difficult, just tedious. The headboard is short so a thin boxspring will be needed. The packaging is excellent and the bed is very light. It is a very nice bed.Poor quality control. I didn’t get assembly instructions. Do they normally include or is everyone on their own. The bed does look good.
