Being a fan of "Queen" since the age of 11 (I'm 38 now), their music had a GREAT influence in my adolescent years. They were the 1st rock band that I ever became a fan of. Later, @ the age of 13 it was Zeppelin & @ 15, "RUSH", which led me to start Drumming @ 16 yrs old (& 22 years later, I'm still playing. I never took a break--it's a deep passion). "Queen" Drummer Roger Taylor was always a huge influence on my playing! When I was told about this book, during my recent search for the 'ultimate' book on "Queen", I chose it for 2 main reasons 1) it's the only TRULY Authorized & 2) The Foreword is written by Guitarist Brian May & Drummer Roger Taylor! I knew that if the band members themselves were 'on board' w/ this publication, then it must be good, so it's the book that I chose--& happy that I chose it, I AM!!! OI cannot comment on any other "Queen" book, as I've not seen another, butt I'm almost POSITIVE that they don't include what this book has. Yes, it has the obligatory text Biography, & it's quite informative & well-written! On the cover it says that the Volume is "Lavishly Illustrated". That would be a huge understatement! The photographs in this book are beautiful, to say the least--some in full-color, some in B&W, depending on the era covered. But the 2 STANDOUT aspects of this book are the fact that that it covers ALL of the 40 years ('71-''11) right down to the current "Queen + Paul Rodgers" Tours! The 2nd aspect is almost unheard of. There are copies, perfect (down to every considerable detail) facsimiles of everything you could ever imagine &/or wish--Promo Posters, Handwritten Lyrics, Concert Tickets, Track Sheets from the Studio, A Pormo Cube from the 'Hot Space' album that you can put together, a sheet of Stickers, The Original Press Kit from EMI for the 1st album, A full-size Poster for the release of 'The Miracle', A full-size Promo Poster from the Rainbow Theatre Show in '73, a copy of the 'Bohemian Rhapsody'/'I'm In Love W/ My Car' 7" Vinyl Single, I can list a dozen more extras, but the point is that this not just a book, it is a Museum-Printed, Pulped, & Bound of "Queen"! A TRUE, MUST-HAVE for any fan of the band "Queen"!
